The Voluntariado Shalom has officially released the list of those selected for the Calcutta Mission Trip 2026. In total, 40 volunteers make up the team that will depart for the international mission in India—29 women and 11 men.
The 2026 edition stands out for its strong sense of catholicity and cultural exchange. The group brings together volunteers from 12 countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Spain, Haiti, the United States, India, Croatia, Poland, Germany, Portugal, and Mozambique. This diversity reinforces the Mission Trip’s character as a space of communion among peoples and a concrete experience of Christian charity.
A Structured Mission: Planning and Action
The Calcutta Mission Trip goes beyond material assistance, proposing a routine of community life and prayer. The volunteers’ daily schedule is divided into three strategic periods:
Morning: Dedicated to planning, organizing teams, and aligning the day’s activities.
Afternoon: A time for direct action. Volunteers carry out socio-educational and sports activities, workshops with children and youth, and visits to local families, promoting care and closeness.
Evening: Focused on integration. The group takes part in moments of sharing, cultural interaction, and artistic presentations, strengthening bonds and the mission’s social impact.

A Testimony of Service to the Poor
The expedition will take place from September 4 to 21, 2026, in the city of Calcutta, India. Its central objective is to follow the legacy of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, serving the “poorest of the poor” and bearing witness to the Gospel through self-giving and international solidarity.
