The Shalom Catholic Community in Paraguay currently has 200 people, broken up by 9 prayer groups, with 7 being internal and 2 external, along with 2 community cells, one for postulates and the other for disciples and consecrated members.
On Saturday, 13th of October, the Community held the Lighthouse Music Fest in an important tourist destination of the Capital, the Costanera of Asuncion. The event had a main stage, a snack bar, stands and the Spot of Mercy, where the Blessed Sacrament was exposed and the public could be heard by the ministry of Prayer and Welcoming.
Around 120 people were voluntarily involved in the organization of the event, which attracted 300 attendees. Amongst all the attractions, was the mission’s music ministry, the Movimiento Peregrino (Pilgrim Movement) Choir, the hip-hop group Cocotex, and the Catholic cumbia band, HuHaa.
For Javier Kovacs, a postulant of the Covenant community responsible for the showcase of the event, Lighthouse exceeded all of his expectations. “I believe that we were all greatly touched, reached, not only the newcomers, but this event was for everyone”, said Javier.
While for Maria Vitória, the local responsible for the mission in Asuncion, Lighthouse was an event from God’s heart. “The event was a huge joy for God and a new impulse in the evangelization of the mission” she affirmed. The event was declared an event of interest for the national tourism, by the Secretary of Tourism.
