More than 5000 people took part in the Shalom Forum 2018 held in Fortaleza from the 6th to 9th of September. The coordinator of the Youth Office of the Pontifical Dicastery for the Laity, Father João Wilkes, celebrated the Eucharist at the conclusion of the event. he invited the assembly to pray for one another, thus creating a great intercession chain.
According to the founder of the Shalom Catholic Community, Moysés Azevedo, “the Forum is a formation event which was created so that with the guidance from the voice of Christ we can better know where to throw our fishing nets and continue to evangelise this marvellous catch that God in our midst is giving us.”
The participating groups came from Amazonas, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. Additionally, there were people from other countries including Cape Verde, France, Israel, French Guiana, Italy, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay, thus turning the Shalom Forum into an international event.
