Under the theme “Called to be a prophetic community,” the Shalom Community was represented by our International Assistant, Fr. Silvio Scopel, and by Paulo Henrique Alburquerque, Apostolic Assistant of the Community.

In this morning’s celebration, June 8, Solemnity of Pentecost, the Holy Father called to “open borders” and to establish unity and “true bonds” in a “hyperconnected and disoriented” world.

Members of various movements and new communities joined Pope Leo XIV in St. Peter’s Square yesterday, June 7, to celebrate the vigil before the Solemnity of Pentecost, attended by around 70,000 people.

The Holy Father has invited the moderators of the new ecclesial realities to cooperate with one another and to put their charisms at the service of the unity and mission of the Church with faithfulness and generosity.

Moysés Azevedo, Angélica Cunha, and Fr. Silvio Scopel are participating in the meeting preceding the Jubilee of movements, new communities, and lay associations.

The meeting brought together founders and moderators of Catholic communities and movements for a day of prayer, reflection, and sharing about evangelization, youth, and world peace.

From May 30 to June 1, Rome hosted the Jubilee of families, children, grandparents, and the elderly. On this occasion, Pope Leo XIV addressed words of encouragement and hope to thousands of married couples gathered in St. Peter’s Square.

Quoting the words of Saint John Paul I, the Holy Father took possession of the Roman Cathedra, marking the beginning of his ministry as Bishop of Rome, during the Mass celebrated on May 25 at the Basilica of St. John Lateran.

In his first General Audience, Pope Leo XIV delved into the theme of hope through the Parable of the Sower (Mt 13:3–23).

At the Mass celebrated this morning, May 18, the Holy Father received the Pallium and the Fisherman’s Ring, symbols marking the official beginning of his ministry as successor of Peter.
