comshalom

Archbishop Rino Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization, will visit Shalom Catholic Community’s headquarters (Diaconia) in Aquiraz, Brazil, on January 28-31, 2017. His visit is part of Shalom’s 35th anniversary celebrations this year.

The Archbishop will participate on the 28th January in a night vigil event for the youth organized by Shalom Community. The event will have moments of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Eucharist, testimonies, praise and worship, music, dance and theatrical performances. Moyses Azevedo, founder of Shalom Community and Emmir Nogueira, co-founder, will take part in the event’s activities.

To the ends of the earth” is the theme of the vigil that will have within its many activities the performance of Missionario Shalom band. The band is formed by missionaries of Shalom Community and targets especially the evangelization of young people through uplifting songs, joyful choreographies and a strong message of hope. Missionario Shalom had an important participation at WYD’s Youth Festival, both in Rio 2013 and in Krakow 2016.

Another special moment during the event is a round table discussion with Archbishop Fisichella, Moysés Azevedo, Emmir Nogueira and other guests. They will be answering questions from the young people on topics such as the promotion of evangelization in Brazil and in the world.

The night vigil event is part of Shalom Catholic Community’s 35th anniversary with the pinnacle of its celebrations happening in Rome, early September 2017. The Community is expecting a massive pilgrimage of its members throughout the world to take part in the Shalom Convention 35 Years. As part of this event there will be a private meeting with Pope Francis and Shalom Community’s pilgrims.
