This program welcomes volunteers who are health professionals or priests although other professionals can apply. All applicants will be subject to the review and approval of the central committee of the Shalom Volunteer Program. Volunteers will provide services to the families living on the riverside areas of Chaves for a period of 15 days. Arriving in Chaves, the volunteers will be divided into groups of 5 according to their abilities and then be sent to different islands. The inhabitants of each island will pick up their volunteers in Chaves.
The Renascer Program welcomes health professionals and priests; however, other professionals may apply. All applicants will be subject to the review and approval of the central committee of the Shalom Volunteer Program. Renascer Program takes place during the Carnival period; it consists of a group of 25 volunteers and lasts for 15 days. The volunteers will visit families and provide services to people living along the riverside, engaging in various activities developed together with the local young people and children.
A group of 15 volunteers, each with their own professional or non-professional skills, will accompany a priest in the city during the pastoral visit and provide services to people living on the riverside areas of the visited islands. In support of their services, volunteers will be given shelter and transportation via the boat from the local Church.
This program is intended to be long-term and volunteers can choose to participate in it for a period of 3 months, 6 months or one year. Professionals with different specialties can enrol. Volunteer work will be carried out in one of our houses for human promotion, which are now under construction in the Spaces of Peace, namely Chaves and Fortaleza.
Registration has closed. Twenty volunteers have been selected to come on board on this adventure to Bogota, Columbia, after the WYD in January 2019.
The city of Chaves located on the banks of the Amazon River will be our next destination!
