Since last Tuesday (1), the Shalom Catholic Community has had a stand at the vocational fair of the City of Joy, one of the places of activities of WYD Lisbon 2023. The community’s space aims to announce and spread the charism among the more than 150 nationalities present at the event, as well as to invite youth to have a missionary experience in the Shalom Volunteer Program.

To be at the service of spreading the charism is the work of the missionary Jardel Martins. Present from the beginning at the vocation fair, he says that it is necessary to think about the announcement of the Shalom of the Father, before taking steps to expand the community in the world.
“Knowing that there is the possibility of an experience with the love of God, by deepening a friendship,” says Jardel. “What we have to offer young people is precisely this path of spiritual growth.”
The space of the City of Joy is also one of renewal of the offer of life. Even though he only knows Portuguese, Lucas Cavalcante, from the Covenant community, had the opportunity to evangelize a Spanish pilgrim at the community stand.
“She came in asking if she could get a bracelet and we tried a conversation,” Lucas recounted. “I gave her a toast and then I was able to understand that she was from Grenada and I told her about the mission there.”
The Community’s stand at the vocation fair will be open until the end of WYD, on the street Rio de Janeiro 2013. There, the missionaries make dynamics every hour, including special presences, such as the Shalom Missionary.
