“Each Christian and every community must discern the path the Lord points out, but all of us are asked to obey his call to go forth from our own comfort zone in order to reach all the ‘peripheries’ in need of the light of the Gospel.” (Evangelii Gaudium, Pope Francis)
Lent is a special time of conversion and repentance. For most missionaries within the Shalom Catholic Community it is also a period of abandonment and openness to the Lord’s Will. It is during this time that the Community prays and discerns the path that the Lords points out in order for us to answer His call to “go forth and preach the Gospel”.
We understand that the work is plenty and fewer are the labourers and, as highlighted by Pope Francis, we must leave our comfort zone and with great joy reach out every men and women who with great expectation longs to hear the truth about the Lord. “The missionary’s enthusiasm in proclaiming Christ comes from the conviction that he is responding to that expectation” (Evangelii Gaudium).
After a period of prayer and discernment, we are happy to announce the opening of 10 new missionary fronts this year. We also would like to invite you to pray for all missionaries discerned to each one of these fronts so that their free “yes” resounds in the land they will touch and offer their lives and produce abundance fruits.
Here are the new establishments discerned for this year:
Luanda, Angola
Paderborn, Germany
Krakow, Poland
Aix-en-Provence, France
Asunción, Paraguay
Sucre, Bolivia
Boston, USA
Manaus, Brazil
Juazeiro, Brazil
The tenth is a new Discipleship house in Eusebio town, Brazil. This is a house for studies and formation of those who are residential members of Shalom Community, that is, those who are part of Life Community (read more about it here: https://comshalom.org/en/to-be-shalom).
