The Holy Family feast was celebrated on this sunday (December 31th) in the Basilica of the Annunciation filled with local christians and pilgrims from all over the world.
The Holy Mass was broadcast by Christian Media Center and a french television. It was presided by the Custos of the Holy Land, Fr. Francesco Patton (OFM), with the presence of the Apostolic Nunzio for Israel and Cyprus and Apostolic Delegate in Jerusalem and Palestine Mons. Leopoldo Girelli and also concelebrated by others franciscans friars. Fr. Stéphane (OFM) in his homily remembered that “we are gathered here celebrating in this feast of the Holy Family in the exact place where the Lord learned how to live like every single man, participating of a family: the Holy Family of Nazareth”.
After the communion, all the participants went in procession to the St. Joseph Church, the holy place where the holy family lived. The celebration finished with the final blessing from the crypt of the holy family, the upper part of the holy family’s house in Nazareth.
