In this Sunday Gospel (Lk 13,22-30) Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem and someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few be saved?”
His answer for them, as for ourselves, if we dare to make the same question, was: “Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many, I will tell you, will try to enter and will not be able”.
Many?! Won’t be able?! Really?!
Yes, really, and we can know that because the one who is saying this is truthful: Jesus.
And we can be thinking, ‘this is not for me, I go to Mass, I do pretty well, I am a good person, He is talking with somebody else’, well, if we keep reading we will see that HE is actually talking with us, with ME! He is inviting ME to look to my life and recognize that I am weak, that I need help to choose the narrow door. He only does that because he wants to help us in our way but we need to accept his help and let him guide us through it.
He says: “Strive to enter through the narrow door” but, He is not saying that we have to do it alone. He goes with us and will never leave us alone.
May God help us to find all help and strength in Him.
Have a great week.
