Few days ago, when I was on my way out from San Lorenzo Centre, I met one of the brothers homeless that usually stay there for the night. He was setting his blankets in a small place where he usually spends the night. I asked him how was him and we started chatting and sharing together.
We had a long conversation but I remember specifically one thing he told me: “Do you know in the fairytales when the princess kisses the ugly toad and it turns into a prince? When you, young men and women, give us a bit of your time by stopping your walk and talking to us it happens like in the tales.
We feel as you light up a true light inside our heart and we realize that we are not ugly toads as we think we appear to the world… there is something kind inside us!”
When he said that I felt deeply touched in my heart and I cried. He lightened up a flame inside me too! And I saw that “something kind inside” was Christ being alive in that man.
