In a truly historic vigil, young people of different nationalities asked the Holy Father questions about friendship, the value of human relationships, the call to goodness, and making radical life choices.

Pope Leo XIV welcomed with joy hundreds of young people gathered in St. Peter’s Square, who took part today, July 29, in the opening Mass of the Youth Jubilee—the first major gathering of youth with the Holy Father.

The Jubilee of Youth is coming! From July 28 to August 3, 2025, Rome will celebrate the Year of Hope, bringing together young people from various countries. The Holy Father emphasized the importance of living “ecclesial communion” and the “vitality of Faith” by following the example of Saints Peter and Paul, patrons of the city of Rome, and working for unity within the Church, among different denominations, and in the world.

The Vatican announced on the morning of Friday, June 13, the new date for the canonization of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati. The ceremony that will raise these two young men to the altars will take place on September 7.

Under the theme “Called to be a prophetic community,” the Shalom Community was represented by our International Assistant, Fr. Silvio Scopel, and by Paulo Henrique Alburquerque, Apostolic Assistant of the Community.

In this morning’s celebration, June 8, Solemnity of Pentecost, the Holy Father called to “open borders” and to establish unity and “true bonds” in a “hyperconnected and disoriented” world.

Members of various movements and new communities joined Pope Leo XIV in St. Peter’s Square yesterday, June 7, to celebrate the vigil before the Solemnity of Pentecost, attended by around 70,000 people.

The Holy Father has invited the moderators of the new ecclesial realities to cooperate with one another and to put their charisms at the service of the unity and mission of the Church with faithfulness and generosity.
