In the weekend between 4th and 6th of March the Shalom Catholic Community organized its first Life in the Spirit Seminar in 2022, which took place in the Kloster Wedinghausen and aimed at bringing young people closer to God through a living experience with Him and his love.
Five young people took part in the event which started with dinner on Friday night. Through the different moments of prayer, teaching, games or just being together they had the opportunity to experience a new kind of relationship with God, a new learning about the Church and also a new way of being Church.
The highlights of the two days were the Eucharistic Adoration and the Effusion of the Holy Spirit, through which the participants had a personal experience with Jesus Christ as the Living God, the one who knows us and stands by us. The experience of prayer and the talks about the Love of God, his Lordship, his Salvation and many others were two places which complemented one another and gave them a deep experience of faith.
“I participated in the last Holy Spirit Seminar of Shalom.
I knew Shalom before and I also had regular contact with the community, that’s why I chose the offer of Shalom in the course of the Confirmation preparation.
The seminar was incredibly beautiful, the cohesion that one felt during the two days was very strong. There were lectures around the topic of the Holy Spirit, which were very pleasant. A big point in the community and also in the seminar was the music, there was a lot of singing and dancing. Also the meals together were always very nice and also funny.
My highlight was the adoration on Saturday afternoon. We were all in the small chapel of Shalom singing and praying. I got goosebumps several times during the adoration because the moment was so incredibly beautiful and touching. Moreover, from a certain point I could feel a warmth in my heart, this feeling will always be unforgettable for me.
In summary, I can say that I am more aware of the Holy Spirit now. I would take up an offer from Shalom again anytime.” reports Mara Meinusch, one of the participants
During the coffee breaks and other moments there was music, dancing, games and also during the meals there was a strong feeling of being a Community The participants could, throw that, experience that being young, being a believer, having fun and having a deep and life changing experience with God are things that can walk side by side. There was a noticeable atmosphere of joy in every moment as a mark of an experience with the Holy Spirit.
At the end of the retreat, the participants decided to go further with the experience through a prayer group which will be taking place every Saturday at 4pm. in Arnsberg (NRW)
