On the day dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Queen, the Shalom Catholic Community experienced another historic moment in its foundation. Yesterday, August 22, the new General Council of the Community was elected for the 2024-2029 term.

The election marks a new chapter in the life and mission of the Community, especially due to the participation of missionaries from different locations where the Community is present worldwide. The General Council is composed of the Founder and General Moderator, Moysés Azevedo, by Emmir Nogueira, Co-founder of the community, and 26 other members from the Life and Alliance Communities.

What is the General Council?

The General Council of the Community must seek full communion with the General Moderator to ensure a harmonious and fruitful direction for the life and mission of the Community. It plays a fundamental role by collaborating with the General Moderator in the continuous reflection and evaluation of the Community’s journey. This includes analyzing and discerning, always in light of the Community’s Charism and the decisions made by the General Assembly, the guidelines that will be implemented to guide the life and mission of the Community.

This process of collaboration and common discernment is essential to ensure that the paths taken are aligned with the identity and mission of the Community, promoting its fidelity to God, the Church, and the people to whom it has been sent.
