We are a Catholic Institute organised into three pillars: teaching, research and content production. We produce and promote knowledge about vital topics so that we can think about reality in a Christian and innovative way through electronic and printed publications. In this way, through the experience of the Shalom Charism, we contribute to the Church’s mission of transform “through the power of the Gospel, mankind’s criteria of judgment, determining values, points of interest, lines of thought, sources of inspiration and models of life, which are in contrast with the Word of God” (Evangelii Nuntiandi, 19).
Our training has an academic base. We seek to transmit systematized knowledge in order to reach a public, young and adult, in need of greater reflective density and theoretical foundation in their process of growth in faith applied to temporal realities.
Currently our content is offered mainly in digital form, via video classes, podcasts, articles, ebooks and other means. To this end, we use a specific platform to offer short and medium-term online courses, our social media channels and a Blog on the official portal of the Shalom Catholic Community.
It’s been an year (September 2019) since we’ve started a “digital content” project. Throughout this period we can highlight some of them: Sacred Scriptures, Family and Marriage, and Theology of the Body, in addition to a series of mini-courses, Magisterial documents studies with emphasis on Social Doctrine, and other theological and anthropological themes.
In one year, over 10,000 people have participated in our courses, both on the platform institutoparresia.org and on our YouTube channel – Comunidade Católica Shalom. We expect to abundantly share the wisdom of the Charism and the Church in the different cultural, professional, academic and social areas. To this end, we have a growing number of qualified volunteers, including missionaries, native or resident, in Europe and Hispanic America. Therefore, the production of content in languages other than Portuguese is a project for the near future.
