I grew up in a family where faith never used to be a priority. When I was younger I had a lot of misunderstandings with them because I couldn’t find my way. Then I started to behave like other teenagers – I started smoking, drinking and dating too. Moreover,I was addicted to relationships and I needed love – I couldn’t understand it then, but now I know. Although I was very much loved by my mother and my boyfriend, it wasn’t enough.
During the summer my boyfriend and I went to the Acamps and we listened to a teaching about the Theology of the Body and it changed our hearts. We decided that we would break up with our old lifestyle and start a brand new and pure relationship. My free life started there. God relieved me of the emptiness and the wrong expectations I used to have. I think the community plays a big role for us to live a good life. The addictions are heavy and sometimes we can’t fight against them alone. We live in a selfish world, where we don’t love one another, only ourselves and what others can give to us. Now, I think teenagers and young adults don’t have enough opportunities to encounter real love, but Shalom tries successfully to show them this precious opportunity.
