Event was held right in the place where the Ferrarian mission is being planted – in the sanctuary of San Giorgio Fuori le Mura. The Archbishop of Ferrara, monsignor Giancarlo Perego, celebrated the Mass of Establishment, along with future rector of the sanctuary, don Giovanni Polezzo and many other priests from the parishes nearby. Other than the representatives of the clergy, at the event were also present many parishioners who came to help and give support to the new Shalom mission in Ferrara, alongside many friends from missions of Acqui Terme, Piemonte, Lugano, Germany and many youth the missionaries met in the city and during World Youth Day in Lisbon.
Ferrarian people welcomed the Community with many acts of kindness, generosity and openness of their hearts, like the gift of flowers which the missionaries offered to Madonna, thus putting in Her hands and intercession this new period of mission and the salutation of the Contrada of San Giorgio with the traditional flags.
After the mass, there were moments of fraternity and conviviality including food, artistic presentation of the Community, music, concert and testimonies.
With this event, Shalom seed planted in Ferrarian soil begins to blossom, and with the grace of God and presence of Our Lady, the missionaries are ready to begin to work in Lord’s vineyard and respond once again with fiat to the calling from God to go where the Church is in need and to be the pencils in God’s hand writing this Ferraian story.
