Moysés Louro de Azevedo Filho is the founder and general moderator of the Shalom Catholic Community. He is also a counselor of the Pontifical Council for the laity since 2007, and of the Pontifical Council for the promotion of the New Evangelization since 2011.

Moysés was born in 4th november 1959 in Fortaleza (Brazil). He was educated in a catholic environment and since his youth he started to lead prayer groups for the young. In 1976 he had a strong experience with the love of God through the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

In 1980 he was chosen by the archbishop of Fortaleza, Aloísio Lorscheider to offer a present for the pope John Paul II in the name of the young people of the diocese. He prayed asking God what present would be good enough to be given to the Pope. He then decided to write a letter offering his life for the evangelization of the young.

In 9 July 1982, exactly two years later the meeting with the pontiff, the Shalom Catholic Community was born.

Azevedo was invited by the Holy See to participate in the synods about the Eucharist in Rome 2005, and about the Word of God, in 2008. He also participated in the V Episcopal Conference of Latin America in Aparecida in 2007, as a spokesman of the ecclesial movements and the new communities inside the continent.

A very strong trait of his preaching is the overwhelming of the inflamed love for God and tireless evangelization of mankind, especially the young.
