CSL – San Lorenzo Center
The San Lorenzo International Youth Center was born from the desire of the Holy Father, who inaugurated it on March 13th, 1983: it is the “Pope’s Center” for all young people, a place of welcome and prayer, site of the “Youth Cross”, reference point for young pilgrims in Rome, a place of formation and a privileged venue for the preparation of the World Youth Days.
Located in the heart of the “eternal city”, a stone’s throw from Saint Peter, it is a place of welcome and meeting place to meet other young people, with different languages and nationalities.
Saint John Paul II, since its foundation, has wished the Center to be a “breeding ground for true young Christians”, a “laboratory of faith” and it is in the presence of the “Youth Cross” that one can live the experience of WYD every day.
“You are the future of the world, the hope of the Church. You are my hope”. With these words John Paul II, since the beginning of his pontificate, has always highlighted his love for young people.
The San Lorenzo Center wants to witness this love and trust through its many activities.
Since October 2018, the direction and management of the Center have passed from the Emmanuel Community to the Shalom Catholic Community.
