Fr. Jean was ordained four years ago in Fortaleza, but since then he has been serving the archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro. Last week, the archbishop, cardinal Orani thanked the missionary priest for his dedication and service to the local Church through the Shalom charisma and concluded: “Now, fr. Jean is going to live his new mission in another country and continent. We will be here praying and hoping that he can serve the people of God there through the Shalom Charism. This new mission makes us see the willingness to serve God, the trust in God’s providence, and at the same time the openness to the surprises of the Lord. These are important signs to be visualized not only in the Church but throughout our city“.
Shalom Catholic Community in Algeria
Shalom Catholic Community has been present in Algeria since 2010 when four missionaries arrived to serve the Portuguese-speaking Catholics of the Archdiocese of Alger. “The local church needs a fresh start: new life blood, new energy to work and serve the people. As community, it’s very significant the presence of a priest among us”, said the responsible for Shalom mission in Alger, Geane Rodrigues.
This and various other initiatives of Shalom Catholic Community are carried out with the help of benefactors who take up with us the commitment to promote a culture of peace in the world which awaits the manifestation of the children of God (Rom 8:19).
