The Ecuadorian singer Juan Pablo Alvarado and the Dominican Celinés Díaz recorded “Como fuego abrasador”, Spanish version of the song “Como fogo abrasador” (in English, “As a blazing fire”), written by Nicodemos Costa and interpreted by Ana Gabriela, both missionary members of Shalom Catholic Community. The song is in the album “Cinco Más” and its video clip can be found here:

Juan Pablo Alvarado, 27 years old, is a singer, composer and producer. He is part of a project along with a national network of Catholic musicians in Ecuador as one of the official voices to record songs to be used in Christian catechesis. The project is supported by the Episcopal Conference of Ecuador.

Celinés Díaz abandoned a promising career in secular field to become a Catholic missionary singer. She was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and since early childhood was drawn to music. She started to compose and in 2001 signed a contract with the international record label BMG US Latin. She says that her conversion happened in a spiritual retreat where she felt God’s great love and had a personal encounter with Jesus that changed her life.

Nicodemos Costa is well known in Brazil for hundreds of his compositions in Catholic field. He is also responsible for organizing the yearly hymn book “Cantai a Deus com Alegria” (in Englsih, “Sing to God with Joy”) which has hymns from the most known Catholic bands and singers throughout the country.
