In the grace of Easter’s season , and the consequent renewal of the missionary mandate, the Shalom Catholic Community spent a week in Malaysia with intense activities of evangelization and sharing of life.
The desire of reaching the Malaysian lands has been nurtured since 2020. The idea started with the members of the Alive in Christ prayer group from Kuala Lumpur who wanted to have the same experience once lived in the online group with their friends, but now an in person experience.
The long wait came to an end after a time of intercession and dialogue, which also involved the church authorities. Thus, it was a week filled with a deep spirit of communion.
The program included evenings of meetings with different leaders, the young people from diverse kinds of Communities (Malasya has many ethnic groups, including Indian and Chinese pastorals) and other pastoral realities, in cooperation with ASAYO, the office of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur dedicated to working with young people, lead by Jacinta Fernandez and Sham Lorenzo.
Among the main activities, one the main ones was the “Fully Alive” praise and worship meeting, a moment dedicated to sharing and prayer with the young people. “Overall, this program with the Shalom Catholic Community gives new inspiration to the youth here. Karltwin Kerol, share your experience “The main message that I received and was reminded of is that the youth are the future of the church that should preach the gospel and be the gospel (bringing Christ) to all people. Hopefully this experience will give the fruits of faith and fuel the spirit of the youth to continue to progress as youth missionaries wherever they serve.”
Those were days enriched by the spirit of communion of faith lived in Asian lands. To learn and share the way of living the faith in Malaysia and to offer the Shalom Charism’s own experience in its foundational aspect: the experience with the Risen One who passed through the Cross.
