My name is Rosaria, and my ties to the Catholic faith run profound and deep. I am overwhelmed with humility, gratitude, and a lingering sense of wonder as I recount a journey that has deeply impacted my life. The bond I share with San Damiano Mission Retreat – the Life in the Spirit Seminar – serves as the catalyst for an experience that has forever altered my being. It all commenced with a serendipitous encounter over a year ago, when fate led me to cross paths with Barbara, whose warm embrace welcomed both myself and my sister. In that moment, it felt as though divine intervention was at play. Little did I realize, this encounter would set me on a path of spiritual growth and rejuvenation.
During my inaugural retreat, just before Easter last year, a stirring took hold deep within me. I felt a calling—a profound sense of joy in my heart, a yearning for something beyond my previous comprehension. Reflecting on that period, I am reminded of the imagery that encapsulates my journey—a heart once barren and scarred, now pulsating with vibrant life. This transformation signifies the healing and renewal I encountered through the grace of God.
At San Damiano Mission, I encountered the palpable presence of the Holy Spirit. Particularly during Mass, there were moments where I was taken by the sanctity of the experience. Tears flowed freely as I came to the realization that God is not distant, but rather resides within each of us, patiently awaiting our willingness to embrace His love and surrender fully to Him. Embarking on a novena of surrender to Jesus Christ by Monsignor Dolindo Ruotolo, and during a pilgrimage to Mexico to visit the Virgin of Guadalupe on my birthday, I experienced a sudden healing after three years of arduous journeys through hospitals, consultations with doctors, misguided diagnoses, and heartbreaking disappointments. This miraculous event occurred when I relinquished all my worries and placed my trust entirely in God.
Through surrendering to God and the Virgin Mary, I unearthed a profound connection with Him—a connection that offers solace and security even amidst life’s uncertainties. I am deeply indebted to individuals such as Andi, Barbara, Luana, Allan, Cesar, Father Cristiano, and many others, whose unwavering support has been indispensable on my spiritual odyssey. Their presence underscores the significance of community and mentorship in nurturing one’s faith.
Today, I am filled with hope and anticipation for the journey that lies ahead. I eagerly anticipate delving further into my faith through endeavors such as Acamps. I implore each of you to explore your faith, seeking those moments of divine presence and guidance capable of transfiguring your lives.
