The San Lorenzo International Youth Center was founded by St. John Paul II. The center is the home of all young people from all around the world and is located in the heart of the Church, just a few steps from St. Peter’s Basilica.
The reception for the pilgrims of Shalom’s 40th anniversary convention will take place at the San Lorenzo Center on September 23. There, pilgrims will be able to register and receive the Convention kit with information on the entire program of the event.
The San Lorenzo International Youth Center was founded in 1983 by Pope John Paul II to be a home for young people in Rome. It houses the World Youth Day (WYD) Cross. For more than three years, the space has been entrusted to the administration of the Shalom Catholic Community, which promotes prayer groups, masses, liturgical and pastoral activities in communion with other charisms and new communities.
The Youth Center opens daily from 11AM to 6PM with Holy Mass at 6:15PM Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, a day dedicated to the prayer groups and other activities for the youth, the Center offers a youth mass at 7PM. On Sundays, the entire members of the Life and Covenant Community of Rome gather to celebrate the Eucharist together at 6:30PM. According to the consecrated member of the Life Community, Victor Aragão, the center will have extended hours during the days of the Convention to better serve the pilgrims.
