With the purpose of serving and evangelizing specific needy communities, the Shalom Community promotes missionary expeditions in which a group of volunteers from different parts of the world go on a mission in the company of the Community’s missionaries. Chaves on the island of Marajó, Brazil and Madagascar, in Africa, have already received missionary expeditions in recent years.

Volunteers and missionaries are invited to put their gifts at the service of brothers and families who live in these locations with a high rate of material poverty and social vulnerability, carrying out various activities in a determined period of time, thus seeking to love, help and evangelize the most needy.
The next expedition will start on 08/08/2023, with the arrival of volunteers in Praia, Cape Verde, and will end on 08/09/2023. Capo Verde is a nation located on a volcanic archipelago off the northwest coast of Africa with a total of 10 islands. The country’s largest island, Santiago, is home to the current capital, Praia.

As in previous editions, a group of volunteers with different skills will be formed – in the medical, artistic and social communication areas. The days will be organized in such a way as to combine assistance with the main needs of local communities and spiritual-kerygmatic formation activities. The intention is not only to offer specific assistance to such communities, but to provide the perpetuation of practices that favor development and also a renewed encounter with Christ.
