The Shalom Convention 2026 will be a profound experience of pilgrimage, communion, and renewal of vocation. In the official launch livestream, Moysés Azevedo emphasised that this edition is not merely a programme, but a matter of “setting out on the way,” allowing God to guide every step and to renew each participant’s call.
The gathering takes place in an especially significant year, celebrating the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Shalom charism, and will bring together members of the Community of Life, the Covenant Community, the Work, and friends of the charism.
Another highlight announced was the Community’s meeting with the Pope, scheduled for 19 November 2026, within the official programme of the Convention.
An itinerary of faith between Rome and Assisi
The programme was conceived as a true pilgrimage through the principal places of the Christian faith, leading participants through experiences of prayer, mission, and recollection.
15 November – Arrival and welcome of the pilgrims
Arrival in Rome, check-in, and moments of welcome, marking the beginning of the pilgrimage.
16 November – Basilica of St John Lateran
The spiritual moments open at the Basilica of St John Lateran, considered the Pope’s cathedral and the “mother of all churches.”
This day will be marked by the renewal of communion and of belonging to the Church, recalling that faith is lived in unity with the whole Body of Christ.
17 and 18 November – Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls
The pilgrimage continues to the Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, built over the tomb of the Apostle Paul.
On these days, participants will be invited to renew their missionary ardour, their evangelising courage, and their desire to proclaim Christ boldly, inspired by the life of the Apostle of the Nations.
19 November – Meeting with the Pope
One of the most awaited moments of the Convention will be the audience with Pope Leo XIV, in Rome.
This meeting represents the heart of ecclesial communion and the missionary sending of the Community, reinforcing unity with the Church and the Pope.
20 and 21 November – Assisi, in the year of the Franciscan Jubilee
The final days of the pilgrimage take place in Assisi, the city of St Francis and St Clare.
In an atmosphere of silence, simplicity, and recollection, Assisi invites the pilgrims to an experience of interiority and abandonment to God. In the context of the Franciscan Jubilee Year, this moment takes on even greater spiritual depth, leading each participant to the essential of the faith.
A call to pilgrimage
As Moysés Azevedo emphasised, the Convention is not merely an event, but a spiritual journey lived in the Church. The proposal is clear: to leave one’s own place, to make a meaningful pilgrimage, and to renew one’s “yes” to God, at the feet of Peter, in communion with the whole Church.
