On Saturday, 13th, some participants of the Synod were at the San Lorenzo Center during a prayer vigil with praise, testimony and members of the Synod, an initiative of Shalom Community in Rome to give young people the opportunity to dialogue with the synod fathers.
The Archbishop of Melbourne, Msgr Peter Comensoli answered the questions of the young people and the youngest guest of the Synod, the Vietnamese Tri, 21, spoke of his experience as a participant. There were also members of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life present, such as Fr. Alexandre Awi Mello, secretary of the D. L. F. L. and João Chagas, responsible for the youth sector.
The young people asked the archbishop of Melbourne questions about Australia, how he discovered his vocation and about the Pope and the Church. Msgr Comensoli, with much wisdom and simplicity, explained that the Will of God dwells in the deepest heart, not in the emotions. He added that dialogue is essential in facing different realities of the Church, it is necessary to be able to listen and share.
The young witnessed his experience in that the Church is able to dialogue and understand young people, that the difference in age between the synod fathers and the young does not prevent them from understanding, welcoming and knowing how to direct them in their choices regarding the future.
During the month of October, the San Lorenzo Center organizes various activities to support the work of the Synod of Bishops, through prayer, daily intercession with the worship of the Blessed Sacrament and the Mass, as well as, talks with special guests attending the synod.
