The experience of being in Rome during the Shalom Convention 2026 will take on an even deeper meaning with the celebration of the Eucharist in the heart of the Vatican. Gathered as one family, members of the Shalom Catholic Community will have the opportunity to profess the same faith beside the tomb of Saint Peter, recalling the centrality of the Church and the mission to proclaim Christ to the world.
The celebration has already been confirmed for November 19, when members of the Community will take part in Holy Mass in Saint Peter’s Basilica. The celebration will be part of the Convention program and one of the highlights of the pilgrimage to Rome, bringing participants together in prayer at the heart of the Catholic Church.
More than a visit to a historic site, being in the Vatican will be an opportunity for members of the Community to renew their faith and their desire to serve the Church. Celebrating Holy Mass amid the beauty and history of Saint Peter’s Basilica will lead the pilgrims to what is essential: Christ present in the Eucharist, who gathers his people and sends them out on mission.
The Shalom Convention 2026 will take place in a special context for the Community, which will make a pilgrimage to Rome to celebrate 45 years of its history, vocation and mission. From November 15 to 21, participants will be invited to look to the past with gratitude, recognize God’s action in the present and renew their commitment to bringing the peace of Christ to the places where they are sent.
In this way, the Eucharist celebrated in the heart of the Vatican will also be an expression of a people on the move. Before the Church built on the witness of the apostles, the Shalom Community will reaffirm its joy in belonging to the Church and its desire to remain a Church that goes forth, proclaiming the Gospel and bearing witness that Jesus Christ is the true source of peace and joy.
