The itinerary of Peter and our itinerary

The life of the saints has the power to take us away from a spirituality that is too disincarnated and gives us the humility to understand that a saint is not the one who never sinned, but who ultimately let God win.

John the Baptist, prophet of Spiritual Joy

“Joy is a mark of those who have had an experience with the Risen One who passed through the cross, for it is one of the fruits of the resurrection: “Jesus came and stood in the midst of them and said to them, ‘Shalom!… After that word He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord”. Through joy we witness that the Lord is not only alive, but is in our midst, full of power and love, and sends us continually on mission. John the Baptist is also a forerunner in witnessing from the beginning this spiritual joy, fruit of God who fulfills His promises. After having seen John in ...

Unprecedented Mass

The mass for discipleship and postulancy was something I never imagined.  When I say this, I am referring to the unprecedented moment caused by the coronavirus pandemic.   Everyone had to be six feet apart and wearing face masks during the celebration of the Eucharist.  I am sure it’s not how everyone had envisioned such a momentous occasion.   Despite the separation caused by social distancing, the feeling of unity filled the room.  The Shalom Boston mission came together to bear witness to the fruit of three individuals answering God’s call for their vocation.  I witnessed Wendy Ramirez, Joao Lucas Lima, and Chris Barton take the next step on their journey in fulfilling their vocation.   All three members had to enter ...

The experience with the Holy Spirit led me, later, to a strong experience with Jesus present in the Eucharist (I feel that my vocation had already dawned there), where I felt personally loved and chosen by him, which generated in me a deep thirst of God and a growing desire to offer myself, which I could do for about four years with the CCR of the Diocese of Santo Amaro, in various ministries, especially with the ...

Protection of minors

Guidelines of the Shalom Catholic Community regarding the Protection of Minors and vulnerable people Introduction 1. The Shalom Catholic Community is a private association of the faithful by Canon Law. Its Charism was born from an experience with the Risen One who passed through the Cross and communicates his Peace to the world (cf. Jo 20:19-29). The foundations of the Charism are contemplation, unity and evangelization. Contemplation generates a peaceful and compassionate heart, satisfied by God and open to mankind. It is from this reconciliation that the Community feels called to reflect the Unity of the Communion of Love of the Trinity. This life of contemplation and unity is the true lever of our evangelization. 2. All the life and ...
