The founder of Shalom Catholic Community is confirmed in the Pontifical Council

Moyses The changes in the Vatican are going on, at this time in the Pontifical Council for the Laity (PCL), which helps the Pope in matters regarding the contribution of the lay people to the life and mission of the Church, individually or through organisations.

The Brazilians Dom Joao Braz de Avis, Cardinal and Prefect of the Congregation for the Institutes of the Consecrated Life and Apostolic Life Societies, and Dom Orani Tempesta, Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro recently designed cardinal, were appointed by Pope Francis for the PCL.

Cardinal Stanislaw Rylko continues as the President of the Council and Monsieur Josef Clemens as Secretary. New councillors were nominated, among them: Dom Alberto Taveira Correa, Archbishop of Belem (Brazil); Dom Dominique Rey, Bishop of Frejus-Toulon (France); Dom Filippo Santoro, Archbishop of Taranto (Italy); Fray Hans Stapel, founder of the Farm of Hope, located in Guaratingueta (Brazil); Laurent Landete, moderator of the Emanuel Community (France) and eight other people.

From Ceara State in Brazil, the Founder and General Moderator of Shalom Catholic Community, Moyses Azevedo, was confirmed among the councillors of the PCL. Alongside with him, there are: Francisco Jose Gomes de Arguello Wirtz (Kiko Arguello), the initiator of the Neocatechumenal Way movement; monsieur Julian Carron, president of the Communion and Liberation Ecclesial Movement; Maria Emmaus Voce, president of Focolare Movement; Andrea Riccardi, founder of the Community of Sant’Egidio; Salvatore Martinez, president of the Renewal in the Hole Holy Spirit and six others.

Among the activities of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, there is the organisation of the World Youth Day, created under the inspiration of Pope John Paul II.
