The Jubilee of Artists has gathered in Rome over the past few days numerous artists from all over the world who have made the pilgrimage to the Eternal City to participate in this four-day event, which included art exhibitions, theater, music and the Eucharistic celebration on February 16, in St. Peter’s Basilica presided over by Cardinal Tolentino, Prefect of the Dicastery for Education and Culture:

“You, artists and people of culture, are called to be witnesses to the revolutionary vision of the Beatitudes. Your mission is not only to create beauty, but to reveal the truth, goodness and beauty hidden in the folds of history, to give voice to the voiceless, to transform pain into hope. They are called to build bridges, to create spaces of encounter and dialogue, to enlighten minds and enkindle hearts”.

ART AND THEATER IN ST. PETER´S SQUARE

The Shalom Community has also contributed to evangelization through theater during the celebration of the Jubilee of Artists with the presentation of a theatrical piece that took place in St. Peter’s Square.

Davidson Silva, Neide Oliveira and Aryana Fideles, artists and missionaries of the Covenant Community, had the opportunity to participate in the Jubilee and to act in the theatrical presentation “Dante without hope”:

“First of all, I feel very honored and happy to be here in such an important moment for my mission and ministry, which are at the service of the church. To participate in this jubilee is to make my mission as an artist within the church an effective instrument. After all, our vocation is to overflow the beauty that is God through our art and mission,” says Davidson Silva.

“Just the fact that it is a Jubilee Year already makes this moment of great importance, because our art has to be in tune with the heart of God who speaks through the mouth of the Pope, our music, our mission, our ministry and vocation, has to be an overflow of our experience with the times that the church is living, its formations and calls have to be well lived by us,” he adds.

Neide Olivera emphasizes that “it is a grace and a responsibility to participate in this Jubilee. I bring with me the intentions of several secular artists who sometimes feel at the margins of the spiritual life, but we all have in common the attraction for beauty. For me it is a responsibility to announce that beauty and to announce hope and a new meaning to life”.

Finally, for Aryana Fideles the Jubilee was an experience of poverty and trust in God. “The moment that has marked me the most is the fraternity with my brothers of the Community of different nationalities and our theatrical presentation in St. Peter’s Square. The desire to evangelize all peoples, in my case through dance”.
