The primacy of the youth in the Shalom vocation
“Young people are not an accident. They aren’t a centrepiece, or a circumstance which will fade with time. The primacy of the youth belongs to the founding grace of the Shalom Charisma” Our Statutes tells us to pay a special attention to the youth. When we were preparing this document to present it to the Vatican, it was highly recommended that we present only what is truly important, that we not put anything that was not of top priority, of prime importance, because the Statutes needs to include aspects which will last forever. Founder
Moysés Louro de Azevedo Filho is the founder and general moderator of the Shalom Catholic Community, a consultant for the Pontifical Council for the Laity since 2007 and the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization since 2011. Born on November 4, 1959, in Fortaleza, Brazil, he was educated in a Catholic environment and, at an early age, he began to lead prayer groups for young people. In 1976, he had a strong experience with the love of God through his involvement with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. The fundamental experience
The Shalom Catholic Community is based on this experience with the Risen Lord who passed through the cross. He, for the greater glory of the Father, pours out His Spirit upon us and sends us as His disciples and ministers of His Peace. The experience with the Risen One who passed through the Cross is the foundation of our vocation. When the Risen Christ appeared to the disciples at the Last Supper, His first word was “Shalom”. Two different choices from two close friends of Jesus
This year, two people that have been part of the Passion of Jesus caught my attention when I was reading the Gospel. They were probably very close friends to Jesus because they were among those who Jesus had spent his last days with. “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Rom 12:2). Christian Carnival attracted 130,000 in Brazil
Brazilian Carnival is largely known is a huge festival with organized parades, samba and dancers. Every year lots of people join the festival held in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Pernambuco and Bahia, where take place the biggest parties. However, it has been increasing the amount of those who decide to participate of a christian carnival. This year, about 130 000 people in more than 100 cities of Brazil spent their holiday in meeting organized by Shalom Catholic Community.
