Priests must be pastors first, scholars second, and they should never forget Christ, their “first love”. This was Pope Francis’ message to all men consecrated to God in the priesthood, at Friday morning Mass in Casa Santa Marta. “How is your first love?”. Pope Francis has sent his greetings to participants in a 4-day Asian conference on the family in the Phillipines, urging the fundamental cell of society to be the leaven of Christ’s love. Shalom Community held the retreat Healed to Love in London
The Shalom Catholic Community in London (UK) led a course called Healed to Love, on the last weekend of March. The course is part of the Ordo Amoris way, a set of five retreat-courses that has self-knowledge and inner healing as its background. The first and the last: between the accounting we do and the goodness we receive

A landowner goes out at dawn to hire laborers and goes out again at nine o’clock, at noon, at three and at five in the afternoon. At the end of the day, he orders that all of them be paid the same daily wage, beginning with the last. Those who worked from early morning grumble, and he answers: “My friend, I am not cheating you” (Mt 20:13). Building Hope: Shalom Toronto unites with Africa in a benefit dinner supporting the Space of Peace in Lubango
Last Saturday, September 12, Shalom Toronto held the Building Hope Gala Dinner, a benefit dinner aimed at raising funds for the construction of the Shalom Catholic Community’s Educational Space of Peace in Lubango, Angola. The initiative aims to contribute to building a welcoming space for education and care for children and adolescents living in extreme poverty. The evening brought together 87 guests and 15 volunteers who, with generosity and a missionary spirit, united for this project. The parable of the merciless debtor: between compassion and justice!

Last Sunday we heard about the duty of fraternal correction and the power of prayer made in common (cf. Mt 18:15-20).
