Feel at home …
A new place for evangelization is getting founded in 2018 in the “City of Lights”. On Saturday 20th January, a snack bar managed by missionaries of Shalom Catholic Community is opening its doors for the first time. It’s called “Chez Moi” a French expression that means “My home”, being in a familiar space. The restaurant has a showcase overlooking one of the busiest streets of the neighborhood. The initiative was from the parish of Notre-Dame de la Croix Church, father Stéphane Palaz, who knew the Community during the World Youth Day in 2013 in Brazil. As he knew about the beginning of the Community at a diner, he had an inspiration to provide the place used as little shop of the parish to become a “showcase of evangelization”.
Music, Prayer and Life Sharing
Chez Moi is opening from Tuesday to Friday from 11:45 am to 4:45 pm. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, it is opening in the evening. On Fridays night, the missionaries is doing a moment of prayer open to the public in order to start a prayer group in future. On Saturdays they are singing and playing in the parish Church during the Eucharistic celebration at 6 pm and after that they are going to the cafeteria.
Amanda Pinheiro is in charge of Chez Moi and said, “Our hope is that the cafeteria become a place where the people can really feel at home.” She added, “We have like a sitting room, tables, the kitchen is visible to everyone and also there is a chapel. So, everyone can feel at home because it is a welcoming place for everyone. We are in a multicultural neighborhood, where different people are present.” She concludes saying: “It is amazing how the coffee shop has generated joy and life to the neighborhood, even before opening. Everyone enjoyed the beauty of the place and our joy”.
