Building Hope: Shalom Toronto unites with Africa in a benefit dinner supporting the Space of Peace in Lubango

Last Saturday, September 12, Shalom Toronto held the Building Hope Gala Dinner, a benefit dinner aimed at raising funds for the construction of the Shalom Catholic Community’s Educational Space of Peace in Lubango, Angola. The initiative aims to contribute to building a welcoming space for education and care for children and adolescents living in extreme poverty. The evening brought together 87 guests and 15 volunteers who, with generosity and a missionary spirit, united for this project. Chaves Expedition 2026.2 promotes integration, care and evangelization at the Espaço de Paz Olympics

From August 17 to 30, the Shalom Volunteer Program held another edition of the Chaves Expedition, on Marajó Island, in the Brazilian state of Pará. The initiative brought together 11 volunteers from different regions of Brazil, who joined the 10 missionaries serving in the mission of the Espaço de Paz (“Space of Peace”) in Chaves, along with volunteers from the region itself. Together they supported the activities of the Espaço de Paz, a socio-educational service of the Shalom Catholic Community, and the work carried out with local families. The joy of celebrating the Eucharist in the heart of the Vatican

The experience of being in Rome during the Shalom Convention 2026 will take on an even deeper meaning with the celebration of the Eucharist in the heart of the Vatican. Gathered as one family, members of the Shalom Catholic Community will have the opportunity to profess the same faith beside the tomb of Saint Peter, recalling the centrality of the Church and the mission to proclaim Christ to the world. The celebration has already been confirmed for November 19, when members of the Community will take part in Holy Mass in Saint Peter’s Basilica.
