The youth center at the center of the Church
Though it sits just steps from St. Peter’s Basilica, it goes unseen by the thousands of people that pass by every day. In a city of churches, it’s a church that can’t be found by accident, but must be sought out. And many do. It is St. Lawrence in Piscibus, a tiny and simple church from the 12th century, tucked behind buildings which make it undetectable from the main thoroughfare to St. Peter’s Basilica. Shalom missionary priest is nominated to contribute in the Holy See
Father Karlian Medeiros Ovídio Vale, a missionary of the Shalom Life Community, incardinated in the Archdiocese of Fortaleza where he was ordained in 2010, was nominated to collaborate in the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. Members of the Holy See are dedicated to studying the main questions of Catholic life in Latin America. For 10 years, he worked in the general government headquarters of the Shalom Community, at the general office in Aquiraz, Brazil, as as the head of the Shalom’s Misisonary Advisory which has missionaries in over 200 dioceses. Shalom Toronto: Camping, life-sharing and new experience with God
Between August 31st and September 3rd, the Toronto mission held a camping trip for young people with various activities. The camp, which at first had the purpose of being a leisure activity for the youth, ended up becoming a seed that was planted for future Acamps. The event took place at the Glen Rouge campground in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough and was attended by 10 people. The planning of the event was not easy. Every day a new difficulty arose: some people could not contribute; promised transportation could not be provided and so forth. Acamps Summer Festival 2018, Hungary – A Great Success!
On the shores of Lake Balaton, Hungary, more than 350 young people from Europe, Middle East, and other places took part in the Acamps Summer Festival 2018 organized by the Shalom Catholic Community. They participated in this summer event which was characterized not only by fun through sports, water games, parties, concerts but above all by intense moments of prayer and Eucharistic adoration. These were precisely the occasions in which young people had a strong and profound experience with God and prayer. More than 5000 people took part in the Shalom Forum 2018
More than 5000 people took part in the Shalom Forum 2018 held in Fortaleza from the 6th to 9th of September. The coordinator of the Youth Office of the Pontifical Dicastery for the Laity, Father João Wilkes, celebrated the Eucharist at the conclusion of the event. he invited the assembly to pray for one another, thus creating a great intercession chain.
