The Shalom Community participates in the Youth Pilgrimage for Peace in Korea
Last week, August 16 – 22nd, roughly 150 pilgrims – young and other lay people and priests – from various countries participated in a “Worldwide Youth Pilgrimage for Peace” in the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea.The pilgrimage was organised by the Reconciliation between the Koreas Committee, whose main office is in the Archdiocese of Seoul, South Korea. The Shalom Community’s international assistance programme was invited to send a delegation to this important event, which took place throughout the 300km area of the DMZ. Praise in the storm at the Acamps Summer Festival
Summer storms are usually beautiful. Especially if they are at a beach, the rain mixing with the still water can change the place into a wonderful, unique location. Last night the storm at Lake Balaton changed the place into a very unique one indeed, although, not exactly the way we would first think. Everyone was getting ready for the evening. Some were looking forward to the workshop led by Emmir. Its topic was one that is very relevant nowadays: sexuality and chastity. The fourth morning of the Acamps Summer Festival began with the joy of singing, dancing and much praise. Followed by a formation by Gabriela Dias on the topic of Jesus is Lord, teaching us how to correspond to the immense love of God, the love that we have heard so much about during the previous days. She highlighted that due to the sins in our lives and the lives of others, we experience numerous rollercoasters, with many ups and downs but we have the strongest and most trustworthy seatbelt keeping us safe in this ride, Our Lord Jesus Christ. God loves you. It is a statement that many people heard all throughout their lives, many times accompanied by false or distorted visions of what God’s love is like. But God’s love is different from what we often imagine. The First Day of the Acamps Summer Festival
The first day of the festival started with a lot of music, meetings, life sharing and dances. Firstly, the Hungarian dance a folk dance that gathered boys and girls who tried to follow the steps, turns, movements and postures. Secondly, the Eucharist band led the young people to a joyful experience of praise through songs in Hungarian, English, Italian and French. Finally, the night came in a environment of peace and friendship. However, we can’t describe just feel it!!!!
