Vocational discernment meeting 2018

Last Sunday, February, 25th, was a very exciting day for some of the young adults in Boston, EUA, who are trying to find their vocation in the Catholic Church. The shalom vocational discernment path has a different theme each year. For the 2018 year, the theme is “Drawn by You, I want to follow You”. This first “open meeting” for the discernment year was the first of a series of monthly meetings for those who feel called to pursue this path to discover what the Shalom vocation is. Fr. Antonio Furtado, Shalom Life missionary visits the house of the Community in Nazareth

On February the missionaries of Shalom Life and Covenant Community who live in Nazareth, Israel received a special guest, fr. Antonio Furtado. He’s been missionary in Fortaleza, Brazil for more than 15 years as priest and he is a great communicator of God’s mercy by the AM Radio 690 where he daily prays the Chaplet of Mercy and presents the “Living Time” program which takes people who assist them to have a greater experience of the Gospel. Currently, Father Antonio Furtado is chaplain of the Shalom Catholic Evangelization Center Meireles, where he develops his ministry as confessor and celebrates Mass on Sundays and Thursdays, this comes together 4-5 thousand people weekly.

Christian Carnival attracted 130,000 in Brazil

Brazilian Carnival is largely known is a huge festival with organized parades, samba and dancers. Every year lots of people join the festival held in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Pernambuco and Bahia, where take place the biggest parties. However, it has been increasing the amount of those who decide to participate of a christian carnival. This year, about 130 000 people in more than 100 cities of  Brazil spent their holiday in meeting organized by Shalom Catholic Community. An Inspiring and Refreshing Community Retreat in Boston

Over the weekend of January 20-21, the missionaries of the Shalom Catholic Community in Boston gathered for a retreat to pray and go deeper into what the Church told us during the Shalom Convention in Rome last September. A remarkable moment of grace took place in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome, last Saturday evening. At the foot of the icon of Our Lady, Salus Populi Romani, entrusted by St. John Paul II to the young people, a prayerful journey has started towards the XV Ordinary Synod of Bishops on Young People(2018) and the WYD in Panama next year.
